Our Queen's Pageant is only open to young ladies who are residents of Plaquemines Parish between the ages of 17 and 23, and is selected by a panel of judges. It is held annually in September, the Saturday after Labor Day. The Orange Queen is a goodwill ambassador for the Fair & Festival as well as Plaquemines Parish. The Orange King is nominated by the Orange Festival members and selected by the Past Orange Kings. The King is usually a person who in one way or another has contributed to the betterment of the Orange Festival and Plaquemines Parish. The King and Queen will be introduced at the Coronation Ball immediately after the Queen Selection, in September, the Saturday after Labor Day. Together they will reign over the Orange Festival.
